ABOUT DILAN
My volatile journey from “fat to fit”, a shedding of 27kg (approx 60lbs), started with redefining my priorities and shifting my mindset to lead a life more about self-care and self-acceptance.
I continue to actively work on these themes, triggered mainly by creating solid fitness habits that serve to help me control my mind, body and soul; maybe some of these techniques could help you too? Initially, I embarked on a fitness journey to lose weight, shed off years of accumulated fat and build muscle in the hope of looking trimmer. However, soon after, training became a constructive outlet for my demons, trauma and unhealed issues from previous relationships.
On my path to embracing my true self, letting go of the desire to fit in, I am learning how to carve my own way. On my socials, I do not hesitate to share my life journey, struggles and experiences, in the hope that some of the strategies that have worked for me, might help others. On my social media @dilanabeya on Instagram, you will find me narrating personal stories of difficult relationships,
For me, the gym is the ultimate place to cultivate self-care habits and challenge myself, “an escape, a place of solace that offers me the opportunity to “help me, help myself” out of pain, stress, anger, frustration, sadness or grief. A place where I can evolve from my “past” self into a “better version” of what I want myself to be.”
I’m aiming to use examples from my personal journey, to help others transform their lives by adopting healthy habits, alter negative mindsets and enable people to realize the importance of self-help and self-care. My aim is to help you, help yourself.
Separately, I have an experienced history working in the investment banking industry trading equities in London and New York for UK, Pan-European, US and Emerging markets. Also involved in the recruitment, training and mentoring of graduates, applying an ethos that “We rise by lifting others”.
My academic background includes a joint honours degree in Japanese and Economics, focused in Japanese Language from the University Of Leeds in the UK, studying also at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, Japan and Middlebury College in Vermont, USA.
