Don’t measure how valuable you are by the way you are treated — @charliemackesy

Loyalty is precious. It is the backbone of any relationship, until it breaks & breeds betrayal. When someone you love betrays you, it’s not only infuriating but confusing & sad all in the same instance. How could someone you thought you knew & who said they cared about you, leave & betray your trust? HOW!??! ⁉️‼️

Like-it-or-not, in the end, it all comes down to acceptance of that pain = acceptance of the difference between “what’s happened” vs. how “you wanted things to be”. Facing the pain of “that difference” & navigating through it will WILL FUEL the path to your next chapter with or without that person beside you because nothing gives life more useful LESSONS than heartbreak IF YOU ALLOW. In the aftermath, several thoughts for your consideration:

NAME HOW YOU FEEL: anger, sadness, surprise, fear, disgust, insecurity, shame, loneliness, confusion.

DO NOT RETALIATE: remember that YOU CONTROL how you RESPOND = be calm. If you immediately attack back, you’re allowing them to provoke you = you’re giving them control over you.

TAKE TIME AWAY: make space….

TALK TO SOMEONE: a third party & in time maybe the person in question?

EXAMINE the “act of betrayal” perpetrated & your relationship with that person, be CONSTRUCTIVE though!

With respect to “getting over it” you’ll need time to process everything that has happened & this will vary depending on the specific events. REFLECTION on what’s happened, GRIEVING of the relationship gone, NOT IDOLISING the past & what could have been, TAKING CARE of yourself (e.g. physical fitness) & getting COUNSELLING are ALL KEY dynamics.

Betrayal is as “pretty as hell” but wish any perpetrators the HEAVENS & move on, because after all it’s not your fault — someone else’s behaviour tells us more about them than it does about you. So, the MOST FREEING way to move on, is to FORGIVE them. LET GO of what/or how they acted & wish them UNTOLD LOVE because that is something they’re in need of THE MOST! ❤️❤️❤️
