Fight A Battle
You may have to fight a battle more than once — unknown
It’s been written that mental health needs a great deal of attention but it remains a taboo. It needs to be faced & dealt with, hence, as important as it is to recognise #worldmentalhelathday our focus on mental wellbeing should extend beyond this annual event. Everyday we should check on ourselves & our mates. 11 things I practice to help me:
.
TALK: There are people who will listen, if not a friend (choose wisely), then there are free helplines…
.
ASK FOR HELP: this is a SIGN OF STRENGTH, not weakness = reach out….
.
SLEEP: Get plenty! Sleep is really important for our physical & mental health.
.
EAT WELL: good nutrition that suits your body type is key; you are what you eat….
.
DETOX: drop alcohol, smoking & recreational drug intake. If you’re dependent on these in order to “enjoy your life”, it might be better to tackle the void in your life that you’re masking with “professional help” instead of intoxication; escapism solves nothing.
.
SUN: Get plenty of sunlight = helps getting vitamin D which helps your body absorb calcium = essential for bone health, supports weight loss, reduces depression, improves muscle function & boosts the immune system.
.
STRESS MANAGEMENT: let go of what you cannot control & understand that all you can control is how you respond in any situation = you decide how you react & how you feel no-one else controls this unless you allow them = taking back your power in this regard will help you reduce stress & anxiety.
.
EXERCISE: stay active, release those endorphins = NATURAL HAPPY CHEMICALS; make it part of your routine not a chore.
.
ENJOY LIFE: Do things YOU enjoy = do what YOU want to do, not what is expected of you to do.
.
CONNECT with others: deep “connection” (not just contact) with people on your level who actually care about your wellbeing will elevate your life in more ways than you can imagine.
.
HELP others: if nothing else, BE KIND. Check on your mates, ask how they are doing, a simple “How are you?” or “Hello” can help change a person’s entire day for the better.
