Impressions Of Kind
If you do not have a memory like an elephant, leave “impressions of kind” like one – unknown DA
Elephants are highly intelligent, beautiful, gentle creatures that are socially complex in nature: they can feel, mourn, express love & so much more. The evolution of elephants dates back over 60million years, however, according to @ourworldindata we are left with ONLY c.450,000! Without conscious actions to protect them, these incredible creatures may become extinct in the future of our eco-sphere; that would be tragic. Unfortunately, there remain many unethical “owners of elephants” who maltreat these beautiful creatures overworking them in logging & tourism industries for self interests.
Thankfully, in Thailand, @greenelephantsanctuarypark in Phuket are trying to change that narrative to help the protection of homeless, sick, injured & old elephants, attempting to nurture them back to their indigenous habitats. In recent years, along with global trends, the number of these gentle animals in Thailand has greatly reduced: in 1950, there were c.50,000 elephants, whilst today there are less than 3,500 left! The main reason for this is deforestation & clearing of woods, which often takes the homes & lives of these incredible animals.
As such, @greenelephantsanctuarypark are committed to the protection of elephants by offering them a safe space to live. The rehabilitation, freedoms & happiness of the elephants are the sanctuary’s ONLY priorities. They offer veterinary care, acres of lush, tropical land for the elephants to roam, forage, bathe & socialize, along with dedicated teams to prepare supplementary food & look after their wellbeing & comfort.
Seeing their work & rehabilitated elephants up-close in real life has left a lifelong impression: I fed, mud masked & showered with these gentle giants, which was an incredible opportunity to experience animals first hand, in a sanctuary that is FULLY against animal abuse & who ensure that the animals are always well kept. I could not stop smiling, in awe of these majestic beings & the amazing Thai people who care so deeply for them…..
