Learned Was How To Be Strong
…and in the end, all I learned was how to be strong, alone — unknown
Have you ever felt completely alone? Loneliness can be one of the most painful experiences, & however much we fight to avoid it, we can’t escape from facing it at some point. Loneliness is not an objective fact but more an emotional state, even when we are surrounded by lots of people. And although it’s usually painful & terrifying, it can end up being a PRODUCTIVE experience IF we put aside the idea that being alone is to be FEARED, distinguishing that being alone is different from being lonely.
Hence, if we interpret being alone as something we do to fuel our soul & energize life vs. “being lonely” as living a life that disconnects us from others, we can see that one fosters personal development & the other keeps us stuck. Therefore being away from the world can allow us time to reflect, regain inner strength & motivate = BENEFICIAL. Furthermore, it is especially important in this era of social media when we are surrounded by digital connections all day.
ALONE space to cultivate a relationship with oneself is KEY. It’s important to analyse if you’re treating yourself with the same love, care & respect you would like to receive? If you aren’t, it doesn’t matter how many people you have around & how much they love you, you’ll still feel empty & alone. So, a constructive relationship with yourself is CRITICAL. You can think of achieving great deeds later but your first responsibility is YOURSELF.
Yet we’ve been taught to think that self-love is selfishness & self-admiration is narcissism. We’ve been conditioned to ignore what we want, to become what the world expects from us = DETRIMENTAL. Hence, ask: How do you treat yourself? How much do you know yourself? Do you know how to listen to yourself? Whenever you find yourself suffering, who do you blame?
The “practice” of understanding yourself is ever evolving, but once you grasp that, you won’t take your frustrations so seriously. You’ll accept that it’s just part of the human journey. You’ll see that life will never be perfect b/c such perfection doesn’t exist, NOR is it important, but only time ALONE, will lead you to realise this.
