Mission
MISSION: to challenge the stigma & encourage normalising transparency around men having hair transplants in order to help tackle “self esteem & confidence” issues that stem from male pattern hair loss.
Losing my hair over the years is something I’ve tried ferociously to hide given the -IVE effect it’s had on how I see myself = a profound impact that‘s lead to bouts of depression. A loss of self-confidence, concerns about dating, worries about the signs of ageing & even about career prospects have all played a part in the effect on me & the narrative that surrounds the stigma about male hair loss & transplants as a solution. Whilst I have learnt NOT to worry about what other people think, I have wanted to tackle my hair loss for the benefit of my OWN self esteem, triggered of my own accord & not just b/c of our society’s focus on physical appearance & the associated external factors that do play a part in how one see’s oneself.
Many men experience noticeable hair loss at some point in their lives. Yet the importance our culture puts on “hair” isn’t likely to change any time soon & the stigma around doing something about hair loss will also persist. However, the more that men come forward about their hair loss issues & solutions to combat it, the easier it will be to move forward with the “dialogue” to do with men having a “hair transplant”, & in turn “normalise” this procedure as a solution for ANYONE who feels depressed about their confidence due to thinning hair.
Given that mental health awareness has risen in recent years, so has the focus on addressing issues that can lead to depression. I’ve learnt a number of coping mechanisms to deal with those. In this instance, my “new coping mechanism” here is “FULL TRANSPARENCY”, which means: 1) Acceptance of my hair loss, 2) Finding out something to do about it, 3) FULL ADMISSION of my plans to have a hair transplant in the hope that it will give other guys the confidence to do the same.
My “op” @ksl_clinics was SMOOTH performed by medical experts in this field. MANY THANKS to the whole team for your KINDNESS. Additionally, HUGE GRATITUDE to @kierannicholls_ for your guidance & support throughout my journey!
