A HÔTEL experience reimagined, beautifully diverging from the conventional hospitality typology. The unique @furtherhotel takes the form of a diffused hotel, reintroducing a long-lost concept that disperses the elements of a guests’ journey, offering “rarefied spaces for sleep & rejuvenation”, respectfully weaving into the fabric of the “boho-chic” Bali enclave that is Pererenan, an ascendant darling of the island that’s brimming with some spectacularly understated lux hangouts & gyms. Further Hotel is intriguingly set across four sites in the Pererenan vicinity that are run as a “collective” to form a singular concept. Each location is paired with intimate guest suites & common spaces that attune to some vibrant local sights, sounds & rhythms, including access to the in-demand @thewronggym

FURTHERmore, the Pererenan penthouse suite that I happened upon, encapsulated a vision of harmony, tranquility & connection. A design aesthetically appealing from every angle both in the light of day & dark nights. More than just a place to sleep, it’s a gateway to an immersive blend between contemporary design by @morqarchitecture & Aussie design @studio.wenden using traditional Balinese shapes & textures, with walls sheathed in burnt sienna plaster & breezy brickwork that filters the morning sun. Robust furnishings made from cast iron, earthy travertine & timber balance out sultry black-&-white photography & a wraparound balcony that doubles as an alfresco bathroom to shower outside: hot fun…

Punctuated also with classic artefacts, magazines & literature from years gone & traditional Balinese culture, all of which enriches the guest experience presenting the essence of Bali’s ever-evolving draw. As such, spending time in this space, coupled with their “Never too late to do better” mantra, & one is reminded that age, lost opportunities & past failures should be considered of no consequence & a “thing of nought”, as the phrase indicates, b/c there is enough time yet remaining to begin, start over & go “FURTHER”….
