Understanding Failure

Understanding failure has been my biggest success— DA

We are taught that “failure” is bad, shameful & to be avoided. Consequently, it is the fear of failure that stops many people from doing the things that can move them forward to achieve their life goals. Some are afraid they won’t succeed if they try something new whilst others are afraid that they might never “make it” pursuing what they’re passionate about.

However, sometimes, when you set out to do something & fail, the recovery from that failed situation is more helpful to us than what we set out to do in the first instance, if you allow yourself the opportunity to see that event from a different perspective.

Upon reflection of failed events in my life, I now understand that these were isolated “opportunities” presented to me in order for me to learn valuable lessons from, on how to do things more constructively going forward. Hence, I learnt to “reframe” failure as “fair game” – as moments from which great realisations can transpire, that make us stronger.

Whether we like it or not & however much we fend ourselves from it, failure is part of life – it is impossible to live without failing at something. The only way you can avoid failure is if you never try anything new, & life is too short to let the fear of failure stop us from pursuing our dreams & living our best lives.

IF you acknowledge a failed event as an opportunity to seek a lesson from as opposed to it being a “-IVE”, you will get back up fighting each time you fall, realising that the lessons from that failure are what turn that “-IVE” into a “+IVE”. Hence, whilst scary at the time, I now see “failed events” as opportunities to become better.

So, if you can change your perspective, gain control of your mind, build your brain to think differently whilst going through whatever pain in your life that you’re allowing a “failed” event to impose upon you, you’ll discover that suffering is the true test of life. Then ask yourself: why am I afraid of this situation? Study it. We face it everyday, so, the only way we can get to the “other side” is to suffer through it & learn the lessons. If you allow this, your GROWTH GAME will be STRONG
