Unfck Your Brain
UNF#CK YOUR BRAIN: live in the moment, not your head — unknown DA Being caught between (usually two) choices that are conflicting desires can leave you grappling with an “internal conflict” which can become a real “head f#ck”. So, engaging with one’s “psyche” in order to make the right decision is key to what’s in our best interests.
The “ambivalence” of being caught between two choices is a very difficult place to be. When someone does something unforgivable, everyone tells us we should leave & we know ourselves that that’s what we should do. But when there are no big visible fractures in the relationship or situation, other than one’s own creeping doubt, it can lead to a loss of one’s sense of self.
This can make one “get stuck in one’s head” for more time than is healthy. In turn, we move to a “mind-wandering” mode = getting stuck “in your head”, & thoughts turn to worry-based thinking much of the time b/c when your mind is wandering in any direction from what you’re doing, you’re alot less likely to be feeling happy – this is b/c from caveman days, humans are wired to “think of the worst & seek defences”. So a “wandering mind” is more often than not an unhappy mind….
Whilst the mind is a pretty cool place – when it gets to be too much, it’s important to know how to take a break from it. So getting out of our heads & back to the “present moment” is critical, this means we need to reclaim & train our attention.
Whilst this topic is vast, a way that I’m practicing to deal with internal conflict is to become self-aware = cultivating an awareness of oneself by concentrating on my most prominent emotions & what they are telling me. Also, I consider my place in the external world. Overcoming inner struggles & making coherent & mature decisions when we face an internal conflict is a matter of analysing one’s life. This means taking the time for reflection of our wants, desires & our character, which will allow for a better understanding of who we are & our place in the EXTERNAL world, OUTSIDE of our heads & in the PRESENT…. #think for #now
