When Something Bad
When something bad happens to you & you use it right, it can buy you a ticket to a place you never would have gone any other way — D.Davis
Unavoidably, we all experience difficult situations at some point in life. You could: lose your job, find out that your partner has cheated, face divorce, experience serious illness or financial hardship, all of which can trigger anger, revengeful thoughts, make one discouraged & focus on regret or make you lose hope. That pain will come. Let it. Cry it out. Vent it out. Bleed it out. Then ask it to LEAVE. Never allow it to accumulate & make you “feel heavy”. We aren’t meant to be broken forever because we aren’t meant to punish ourselves like that & because life is more amazing than just being “stuck in that”.
If you frame any -IVE emotion as “energy” & re-channel that energy as “fuel” into other pursuits, you can use bad events as an opportunity to MOVE ON to find a better job or partner, change for better health & fitness regimes, find alternative revenue streams or develop valuable new skills to start your own business….
Hence, your reaction to a setback is what dictates exactly how much and how long you suffer. It is CRITICAL to UNDERSTAND that it is in YOUR power to choose how YOU respond, b/c YOU do have a choice to decide, which will affect whether you overcome a bad situation or succumb to it. This means, that b/c we have options, it is actually possible to turn a bad situation around into a constructive one.
Ultimately, it’s all comes down to YOU and how YOU DECIDE to react, or not, to events that happen upon your journey in life. Whilst some events may slow you down, the key is to JUST KEEP GOING, directing yourself to focus on “what next” instead of “why me”….. So, ask yourself, “What do I want?”, listen to what comes to mind, redirect your energy to it, and then GO FOR IT!
