Your Trauma Creates You
Your trauma creates you…. ♥️
.
Trauma can be the result of a myriad of events, the physiological and emotional impact of which, will change who we are, whether we like it or not. How we respond to the impact of that trauma is what we must understand to be the most critical component of our next steps: we can choose (yes, OUR CHOICE) to either sink or swim. .
Hence, it’s important to ask [of ourselves] how we want to respond post impact, because if we decide to make our brain change its response to an experience, then we have the opportunity to deliberately help our mind adjust based on the new experiences that we create as a result of that initial decision.
.
With self-reflective exercises we can recall [and mourn] the loss of who we were before the trauma, see who we have become since, and who we want to be going forwards = connecting elements of the past, present and future that we most value and want to cultivate to help us promote our evolved identity, as opposed to being stuck in a pattern of breaking our life journey into stark –IVE “before & after” comparisons.
.
To be clear, building a post-trauma identity involves a lot of effort to establish the true restoration of one’s safety and stability. A first step however, is DECIDING what we want (choice) and ACCEPTING how events have impacted us, to help us break free from conventional reactions that we’re supposed have, in order to become “who we want to be.” The ultimate objective being, to make past trauma a small part of our very broad, confident, capable, and free new self….. .
Therefore, energy from the pain of any trauma can be used as fuel to re-channel into re-inventing your next self… .
